According to Indians, Lotus flower is the most beautiful between all flowers. Symbol of purity, of untouched and untouchable beauty and glory, Lotus flower takes root in mud but comes out from the water shiny and brilliant: it comes to surface as purified from the wolrd's evil.

Lotus flower is also basic in indu mythology: according to its purity it is considered a divine manifestation; in Mahabarata, the indu epic poem, Brahma is appointed as the one who is born in Lotus flower. The myth comes out from a tale in which Brahma was born from a Lotus flower sprouted from Vishnu's umbilicus while he was meditating.

As Brahma is represented sitted on Lotus flower come out frome Vishnu umbilicus, so the other gods of indu triad, Vishnu and Shiva (with their wives Sarasvati, Lakhsmi e Parvati, are represented on a Lotus throne. And more significant is the ritual Buddist prayer: "Om mani padme hum" that means "Honour to you, jewel on Lotus flower"; the jewel, portray of god, stays right in the Lotus flower.
